I sent invitations to over a dozen sound artists whose work I respect. I hoped they would find this project challenging and exciting.

The Rashomon Perplex:

Inspired by Kurosawa's brilliant film, Rashomon, this project is an aural exploration of 'the Rashomon Effect'. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rashomon_effect)

I have created a base track as "the facts of the case." Or are they? Things get missed, ignored, distorted, misremembered, exaggerated, misperceived, overlooked, obscured, examined with different tools, interpreted with bias, seen from different perspectives, reordered, reconstructed, etc. What is your take on the situation?

The submission deadline is Sept 6 (the day after the Labor Day weekend here in the States) so this playlist will, hopefully, grow over the next month. By making versions available as we go, of course, we run the risk of "witness contamination."

Tracks will be listed in alphabetical order by title to keep the goal of objectivity in place.
